Memorial day:
So yesterday for work we coverred a memorial day service in Killeen Tx at the Veterans State Cemetary. It made me feel really lucky for one to be alive and two blessed to have my family. All of the attended families had lost a father. I say father because it was the surviving kids who were there to except a gold star medal for the service of their dads. One family we interviewed really hit home with me. The daughters were age 6,9, and 11. I could’nt help but think how my family would go on without me. These little girls had so much courage but at the same time so much pain. No matter how you feel about the war you have to feel for the families and scores of service men and women who give up their daily lives so that we dont have to give up ours. I am happy I was able to cover the ceremony on MEMORIAL day. I even stayed late to make sure every edit was perfect. Its the least I could do after all I got to home at the end of my day. Fast forward to today. Our story is on people who are jaywalking which kind of pales into comparison. Especially when you think of the soldiers and their families who are still dealing with the war today while I go about my daily routine.
