I am wishing upon a blue star, wondering how far we are. Wishing on a blue star, wandering around wondering. Wishing on a blue star, wondering how far we are.

Today for work we did a story on the Flat Stock show at SXSW. At this point your asking yourself what is flat stock. Its basically poster art created for concerts and that sort of thing. It’s an awe inspiring messmorizing trip of colors and graphic images. When I say graphic I mean like graphic art, or advertising art, not disturbing. On the contrary its gorgeous. Too bad I had to pay the bills today otherwise I would have gone straight home and started painting. Which reminds me I have been finding inspiration in the strangest of places….But we will get into that at a later date as its a longer story than I am willing to type up at this point….lol…..back to flat stock. I think the reason I like it so much is the bold lines and use of color. Much like my work except mines not for music posters. Although at this point I think I would be game for that too…..On a side note I am now displaying some of my art work at the Bass Concert Hall on the UT campus. It’s open to the public from M-F 11am-2pm. Or you can go to an event and check it out while sipping on a beverage. Its on the fourth floor and includes both originals and prints of my work.

So earlier today I did a google search for my name like so. Doug Naugle, Facebook. And low and behold my facebook page popped up with me but everthing was in Japenese. So either I am really popular in Japan or I hit the wrong button on GOOGLE….lol….Either way it reminded me of a song lyric. Im really big in Japan. Here’s a little taste of the songs lyrics by Tom Waits.
“I got the style but not the grace
I got the clothes but not the face
I got the bread but not the butter
I got the winda but not the shutter
But Im big in japan Im big in japan but heh Im big in japan
I got the house but not the deed
I got the horn but not the reed
I got the cards but not the luck
I got the wheel but not the truck….”
So now its my turn.
I got my own style but I dont trace
I got the apron but not the tazer
I got the brush but not the paint
I got the winda but not the drapesOk, so at this point I realize I am an artist not a muscian or poet. At least not when it comes to re-working someone else’s songs. I am pretty good at butchering alot of peoples lyrics however. We will talk more about that later. The main thing to remember now is this Tom Waits and myself are big in Japan. I’m ok with that:)
But Im big in japan Im big in japan but heh Im big in japan
